The History of the Provest.

The builders apron with reflective workwear jacket concept was born in 2002, when New Zealand builder, Brett Elliot, began suffering the painful effects of many years spent carrying tools using a traditional tool belt.  Initially for his own benefit, Brett came up with the basic design of a tool vest which could have pockets attached to it, re-distributing the weight from his lower back to his shoulders.

Over time the design improved to incorporate a basic back support and harness system, further adding to the functionality of the vest. Brett realised that the invention could benefit many more people and made the decision to patent the product and began seeking potential business partners with a view to commercialising the product and taking it to market.

A New Zealand patent was granted for the product by the New Zealand Patents Office in 2006 and since then Brett has been working with Taurus Leather Company improving the design of the product to where it is today. Today the Provest by Taurus Leather Company is viewed by many tradesmen as the smart way to carry tools.
